Installation of PTF02015

This PTF includes the following enhancements to the Project Management functions of FENIX/400:

1. Cross validation of project and task estimated (in days) when new Special Indicator 61 (Project Management in use) is set;

2. Time Logging for Project Management (option 33)

· Checks for a maximum of 24Hrs logged per day.

· Shows the total hours logged to the tasks and project.

· Does not permit the modification or deletion of entries later than the date of last update if Special Indicator 62 (Allow time logging update after last change date) is set.

3. Up to 4 new user defined fields added to project details (option 4 - Project Maintenance) controlled by Special Indicator 71 (Project User Fields in Use);

4. Up to 4 new user defined fields added to task details (option 6 - Project Maintenance) controlled by Special Indicator 72 (Task User Fields in Use);

5. New Project Management options added:

· New option 34 - Time Log Enquiry (Actual User Only).

· New option 35 - Time Log Enquiry (All Users).

6. TASK Audit List (option 34) now changed to option 17;

Installation

Restore the PTF objects to library FENIX from the save file PTF02015 found in the actual PTF file delivered, PTF02015.

Delete the following logical file(s) in the system library FENIXQQQ:

1. SCL061L0;

2. SCL061L1;

3. SCL061L2;

Re-activate the system (option 1, F17 followed by F18)

The new versions of the files will appear in FENIXQQQ.

New Project Management Functions

Cross validation of project and task estimated (in days) when new Special Indicator 61 (Project Management in use) is set. The project details maintenance now includes validation of the estimated time if entered. The time units are days and cannot be less than the total of the corresponding task estimated (option 6 - Task Maintenance) The following screen shows an example.

Time Logging for Project Management (option 33) See screen example below.

This option allows for input of daily tasks activities such as design, development, testing, and administration tasks (example meetings) for project management. Each entry may be logged against an object and/or as a memo entry (F4=Memo unfolds the entry for memo or additional comments)

Time Logging for Project Management

Help function F1 is available for object, object type, object attribute, and activity selection with the cursor in the corresponding field. (See examples below). Help on objects will only display objects logged by the actual user via option 8. The activity file SCL060 in the FENIX library may be augmented.

New Project Management options 34 and 35 provide enquiry options for reviewing the time log entries entered via option 33 (Time Logging for Project Management) described above. Option 34 -Time Log Enquiry (Actual User Only) displays information entered by the actual user only while option 35 -Time Log Enquiry (All Users) displays information entered by all users. An example screen is seen below.

Time Logging Enquiries

TASK Audit List (option 34) has now been moved to option 17.

Four user fields have been added to the project and task descriptions and will appear on the project and task maintenance screens on the right side of the screen as shown in the following examples. No validation is done on these fields. The user field descriptions may be changed using the AS/400 command UPDDTA to update the following project and task description fields in the files SCL110FX SCL120PX, SCL001FX, and SCL060PX, respectively, in the FENIX library:

· US1A - User field 1 (one position alphanumeric)

· US3A - User field 2 (three position alphanumeric)

· US16A - User field 3 (16 position alphanumeric)

· US7N - User field 4 (7 position numeric)

Any or all of these fields may be activated for use by setting Special Indicator 71 for project or 72 for task user fields as follows. The indicator may have a value of 0-9 (zero through nine) or 'A' through 'E'. The corresponding binary value of the indicator (zero through 15) determines which of the four indicators are set. For example a setting of '1' will give the binary value '0001' indicating from left to right that only the fourth field (US7N) will be set. Similarly a value of '9' gives binary '1001' will set fields 1(US1A) and 4(US7N), value 'F' gives binary fifteen '1111' will set all the fields on and value '0' (default) gives binary '0000' meaning that no user fields will be used.
